Four stars: Another delectable mystery with cozy treats, magic and Greek mythology.Ella Mae is happy and content back in her pie shop. What I Liked:
*After the thrilling events of the concluding volume, A Breach of Crust takes a step back and utilizes a quieter approach. This time, the story isn't on a global scale, and there aren't dire consequences for magical kind at stake. Instead, information technology is a simple mystery that has some surprises. Even though this book wasn't quite as exciting every bit the concluding, it was all the same a good solid read.
*The overall mystery was interesting, and I especially liked how information technology featured a Greek myth. I wasn't familiar with the Greek story, and I liked uncovering it, and seeing information technology fit into the story. One thing I love about this series is that it utilizes all kinds of legends and mythology.
Take I told yous how much I love Reba? I tin't become enough of this fierce, sassy, funny, licorice loving, loyal and sex craved old gal. She makes me giggle with her antics. I loved that we got a good heaping dose of Reba in this one.
*I liked the whole story line featuring Opal Gaynor. I was thrilled with her alter of eye, and I admired her courage and donating sacrifice.
The romance has been a sticking indicate in the serial for me. Thankfully, the romance finally seems to be settled out in this one. I am and then pleased to come across the way information technology worked out, and I have my fingers crossed that the romantic drama is done.
*I am a huge fan of the the delicious nutrient in the books. This time around, Ella Mae is working to create gluten free pies and a Key Lime Pie for the lactose intolerant. I love reading the descriptions of all the yummy treats, I only wish I could taste them. Since I can't reach into my book and taste the pies, I can do the next all-time thing, try making them at home. In this installment, there are more tasty pie recipes. This time you can attempt to broil: Black Bottom Peanut Butter Pie, Lactose Free Key Lime Pie, Blackberry Icebox Pie and Tomato Pie with a Cheddar Crust. Yum!
*The ending was satisfactory in that information technology concluded the principal mystery. I also appreciated the way things ended upwards with the romance. I am hopeful that in that location are still more books in the works.
And The Not So Much:
*I am nevertheless not liking the whole mean girl drama that continues with Loralyn. It is getting old. I wish that story line would settle out once and for all. It is getting dried.
*I take been eagerly watching some secondary romances hoping they will unfold, but I was disappointed that none of them really blossomed. I was especially disappointed in the relationship that happened with Ella Mae's mother. Information technology was left completely hanging. I hope some of these relationships are followed up on in further books. I want to come across what happens with Jenny, Finn, Ella Mae's Mom and Aunt Dee.
*Fifty-fifty though the mystery was entertaining and interesting, I had it figured out early on who the culprit was despite the obvious attempts to brand information technology look similar someone else.
*I missed the pie making magic. I hope that it comes dorsum.
Alienation of Crust was another entertaining installment in the Overjoyed Pie Shoppe Mysteries. This fourth dimension around, the mystery borrows from an old Greek mythological story. I love that this series continues to incorporate old legends and lore, composite with magic and delicious food. If you want something unique in the cozy genre, this is the series to endeavor as it is a bit of paranormal with cozy. I am hoping there are more books to come in the series, as at the fourth dimension of this review in that location is null posted nearly a sixth volume.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher in commutation for an honest review. All opinions are my own, and I was not compensated for this review.

Unfortunately, Ella Mae finds Beatrice, floating in Lake Havenwood and earlier long, the ugly truth about the prestigious Camellia Order is out and once again Ella Mae comes face to face with her nemesis, Loralyn Gaynor.
I loved this volume in the pie shoppe series. This 1 was total of twists and turns and I was left guessing until the very stop. Ms. Adams is such a talented writer that I was drawn into the story from the very first page. The inner workings of a magical earth, disastrous and cunning mother-girl relationships and so much more than fabricated this book very hard to put down.
This is a book that will keep whatever cozy mystery fan guessing until the very end.
I cannot await to read the next in this heady series.
I received and ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I dear this series and was definitely anxious to read this book - especially with how the concluding i ended. However, I accept to admit that it was missing a few elements that I've come to dear. Amongst the characters, I missed more interaction with the aunts. A few times they were mentioned and some fabricated apperances, simply they weren't included in any main scenes. I missed having the baker as a backdrop too. Again, they were there a few times, but most of the baking was just Ella Mae playing around in the kitchen and creating special dietary restricted pies after hours . I hope her magic returns considering I love reading how she incorporates that into her baking. Last, I missed visits to the Grove. In by books, information technology has been such a magical and enchanting place to drop in on, just the closest we got to it this time was a wonderful clarification. I know the Clover Queen is not able to enter it anymore, merely I definitely longed for a few scenes there. I wish in that location had been a couple of follow ups too. The pie that Ella Mae baked for the Crafting Wishes Foundation and the lady with amnesia. I would accept loved to have seen if she had a reaction to information technology. I likewise would take liked to know what happened between Adelaide and Henry. He was a great addition to the story and I hope he returns!!
With all that said, information technology wasn't a bad book. Reba was in fine form and had me giggling with her crazy antics. She is such a perfect side kick!!! I loved watching Ella Mae and Hugh reconnect. That catastrophe. That was a sweet catastrophe!!!!! Even if it was bittersweet, I enjoyed reading about Opal and the holistic methods she used to deal with her affliction. Yous ameliorate believe that I googled Qigong. I liked the extra, new characters that were brought in to assist research mythology and a bit more of the Arthurian/Morgan LaFaye connections. Information technology was interesting watching Ella Mae substitute ingredients and come upward with pies that were gluten/dairy free. My husband is lactose intolerant and so I continued with that scenario. Something that occurred towards the end definitely gave me hope that a scrap more than magic volition be returning to Sweet Briar.

If y'all like a fiddling magic and cooking especially yummy pies in your books this is a great series to read.
Ella Mae is also working to help Opal Garner. Opal is dying of cancer and she wants to meet her daughter, Loralyn before she dies. Loralyn fled town and no one has seen her (or heard from her). It turns out that their enquiry for a magical object leads them right back to the Camellia Club (and desire to guess what else Ella Mae finds). Ella Mae tin solve Bea's murder, discover a magical object, and aid Opal at the same fourth dimension!
Breach of Chaff was a delight to read. I enjoyed every moment of this book, and I really did non want information technology to end. In lodge to empathize what is going on in Breach of Crust, you do demand to read the other books in The Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery series (or you will be lost). Breach of Crust is well-written (as usual), has charming characters, romance (non just betwixt Hugh and Ella Mae), humor, and some magic. Ellery Adams crafted an enchanting tale with Breach of Crust. I give Breach of Chaff five out of 5 stars (which y'all know I rarely practise). The ending in this novel will leave you smiling.
I received a free copy of Breach of Chaff from NetGalley in exchange for an honest evaluation of the novel.

Some other exciting tale from the excellent storyteller, Ellery Adams.
Ella Mae may non be able to make her famous magic pies anymore, but she knows they are as delicious as ever. Breach Of Crush is the fifth book in the A Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery series.Another exciting tale from the excellent storyteller, Ellery Adams.
Ella Mae may not be able to make her famous magic pies anymore, merely she knows they are as delicious every bit ever. When Reba steps into the kitchen and tells Ella Mae that a Bea Burbank has tasted every pie in the store and would like to speak with her, she is more happy to speak with another satisfied customer. Bea Burbank is the president of The Camellia Club from Sweet Briar, GA, a philanthropic organisation of high guild women and their daughters. Every ten years the club prints upward a cookbook for their almanac retreat. This yr's retreat will he held shortly and will be held at the Lake Havenwood Resort. In addition, the group has two other chefs/bakers coming in to show off their skills. That evening, after sharing this news with her female parent, Ella Mae and her dog, Chewy, become for a walk forth the shore of Havenwood Lake where she finds the lifeless body of Burbank floating in the lake.
Ella Mae, Reba and her aunts do some inquiry on the club and are able to become information that might connect the grouping to some apples that have extremely powerful magic powers.
In addition, Opal Gaynor, whose family unit had been feuding with Ella Mae's for years, have recently put their differences bated. All except for Ella Mae'south nemesis and Opal's daughter, Loralyn. Opal informs Ella Mae that she has cancer and has a curt time to live. She asks Ella Mae's to find her daughter before she dies, so they can reconcile. Ella Mae has mixed emotions with this request, but once she learns that Loarlyn has changed her proper noun and joined The Camellia Club and might be involved wanting to go control of the magical apples, Ella Mae feels compelled to search for Loralyn and whoever might have killed Bea.
Ellery Adams has provided the reader with another wonderfully told story with a great bandage of believable characters.
Succulent recipes are also included with the book.
Definitely, will be watching for the next book in the series.

Breach of Crust had no shortage of murder or intrigue, but it was the family connection running through the book that actually made it a hit for me. The LeFaye women dear each other so much and it is always nice to see characters support each other unconditionally. Ella and Hugh made some huge strides in this book too and information technology finally felt like they really fit together. I was (pleasantly) surprised past Opal Gaynor and the way she adult in this book. She has probably changed the about throughout the series and it was nice to see her finally get a mode to atone for her past.
There were a lot of bombshells dropped and loose ends tied up in Breach of Crust, but I actually hope this isn't the last book in the series.
Thank you to Berkley via Netgalley for providing an ARC copy of this volume in commutation for an honest review.

A perfect plot that moved quickly and fluidly, this story was everything I accept come to expect from a tale by Adams. It actually pulled at my heart, and by the conclusion I had run a full gambit of emotions until finishing on a happy high.
More than a cozy mystery, more than a para-cozy, BREACH OF Chaff was audacious, intriguing, thought provoking, and cute I would say this story is worthy of a screen adaption, although, I don't feel it would do the volume justice.

This a review for the series equally a i go, since the series is finished, I hated to estimate them book past book
Ms. Ellery managed once again to portrait a woman on fire, a role model, and a dreamer.

This a review for the series as a one get, since the series is finished, I hated to judge them book by book
Ms. Ellery managed once again to portrait a woman on fire, a function model, and a dreamer.
Pros
- The SISTERS, I don't need to say more, heck there's nothing more to be said
- I don't like the male representation in this volume, However the Characters are polished to a glimmer.
- the books were continuing on the fine line betwixt mystical fiction and cozy mystery. they even for fourth dimension (book three&4) leaned toward the mystical fiction, which does not only is well written but too establish Ms. Adams status as a Fictional Author with a great spectrum of knowledge, truly admirable.
Cons
- BOOK 5 is Forced into this serial so hard, that I have no entreatment for it... I went through it for the sake of closure more than than the story. For me the story was pretty well done past Book 4 that I seriously thought the serial was over.
- I have a huge issue with the criminal offence in Book 4, the book could have handled well without the cozy mystery element, there was no demand for the impromptu reveal for the killer in the stop, God but know I found that so erupt.
- There were rather rushed elements in the romantic lives of the characters, merely I will refrain from pointing that out since that was supposed to exist a mystery more than a romantic book
- I would have loved a tiny fleck more consistency, book 1,ii,three offered the cozy mystery elements and the story was holding pretty well... everything went into the other direction by volume four and and so book 5 came to seal the bargain for me. considering book v was solely focused on an chemical element/charterer that has not been addressed fully in book 4, the book felt lacking in the magical element and in the mystery itself, you knew who the killer can be from the first page.
I would love to read a fictional book written past Ms. Adams that has nil to do with mystery she would hold her own fort in that regard pretty well, if not amazing.
I would like to add together that the story felt abruptly wrapped and re-wrapped, I has closure by book iv and then volume 5 had to come to rewrap it all again, information technology'due south like wrapping a gift twice for different occasions!

Opal has been diagnosed with a concluding affliction, and she wants to reconcile with Loralyn before she passes abroad. Unfortunately for Ella Mae, solving the murders may be simpler than turning Loralyn'due south cold heart.
A lot of depth to this story, what with two, over-arching story lines going on. The plot moved forth quickly, and it was woven throughout with both history and mythology.

As usual
My tendency to read books from various mystery series fairly regularly during this pandemic's cocky-quarantine continues (although there take been a few other books in between) - and it volition keep as long as the plots are compelling and they do non reek with blood & gore. I desire my listen to be occupied with storytelling, taking me away from all the worries that the times manifest. Alienation OF CRUST, #v novel in the "A Charmed Pie Shoppe Mystery" series by Ellery Adams, does that quite well.As usual there'south magic adrift, delicious pies baked, well-placed sense of humour amidst dangerous happenings, and Ella Mae LeFaye is wondering what'due south she's gotten herself involved in this time... What she knows is that in that location's been a murder and her beloved village of Havenwood could be the target for horrendous destruction unless she can find and destroy the killer. The rest she has to effigy out.
Ellery Adams writes excellent mysteries, and this one is no exception. Every bit usual with this series, the reader can observe a few recipes at the back of the book. I'thousand thinking about making the "Charmed Black Bottom Peanut Butter Piet" in the near future!
